College crunch time

Madison Ford

Entertainment Editor

In an effort to help seniors effectively apply to college, the counseling staff met with seniors during their English classes today in order to outline requirements and answer questions about the application process. Students were directed to rooms where their respective counselor discussed the ins an outs of applying to college, as well as pointing out important deadlines and scholarship opportunities.

Due to the variety of application websites various colleges use, this meeting was beneficial to many as it clarified the differences between application websites such as the Common App, ApplyTexas, and college-specific application forms. This meeting enforced the importance of Naviance as a tool seniors should use when filling out college applications and requesting letters of recommendation.

While this meeting covered many steps to applying to college, the college application process is extensive, and some unanswered questions may still exist. Seniors were encouraged to contact their counselor if they had any uncertainties or special circumstances regarding their applications.
